Hyderabad: A headmaster of a Government High School was suspended by the School Education Department last week for criticizing Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Lateef Mohammed Khan, who works as a principal of the Government High School near Gandhi Bhavan in Nampally criticized the Chief Minister through a video in which he listed out the unfulfilled promises made by KCR in 2014 before coming to power.

A civil rights activist and general secretary of the Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee, Mr Khan also has been working for the justice of Mecca Masjid bomb blast victims. Last year in November, during the Telangana Assembly elections, Lateef published a 15-minute video on YouTube with the title - KCR exposed. The video, which was also shared on Facebook had him list out the unfulfilled promises of KCR, including his claims of providing 12% reservation to Muslims in employment and education, clean drinking water for each household, making a Dalit the Chief Minister, providing double bedroom houses to the poor, employment opportunities for 50,000 students, free education from KG-PG and construction of dams for irrigation.

Stating that KCR never fulfilled these promises, Mr Khan further pointed out that the Chief Minister said that he will create a 'Golden Telangana' during the Telangana movement and 2014 elections but has failed to do so.

He further urged the public on behalf of the Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee to question the TRS leaders regarding these promises when they seek votes.

However, the video has gotten Lateef Mohammed Khan in trouble as he has been suspended on grounds of violating the Model Code of Conduct on May 15.

Mr Khan told TNM that while he questioned several CM’s and PM’s in his 20 years working as an activist, there was no action taken against him. The Civil Rights Activist is planning to challenge the decision of the department in the High Court.
