Netizens Raise Funds To Get Body Of Hyderabad Techie From North Carolina Home

Hyderabad: A techie from Hyderabad, Gongalla Sahith Reddy (25) died in a hit-and-run accident in the US state of North Carolina on May 11 while he was on his way to the gym.

It is reported that on May 11, Sahith, who had been in the States for more than two years now, was mowed down by an unidentified vehicle when he was leaving the gymnasium at 4.30 am in the morning . As he was as not carrying any official documents with him the Police could not identify him and sent his body for post mortem. For two days, the authorities could not contact any family or friend. It was only when his friends approached the authorities after he did not return, or take his calls that they came to know of the matter.

Sahith’s father, Madhusudan Reddy is a former BHEL employee and his mother Lakshmi Reddy is a homemaker. Sahith after completing his engineering from CBIT in Hyderabad, moved to the US in 2016 to pursue his MS in Computer Science in Connecticut.After completing his studies he was due to join a new job in a company named HCL at North Carolina in a couple of days.

His mortal remains would reach Hyderabad either on Friday or Saturday, his family said. They are also requesting the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swarj to help them speed up the process. Meanwhile Sahith’s friends, T Akshay Reddy and others started a crowdfunding campaign to help bring his mortal remains to India. The campaign has already collected Rs 10.6 lakh so far.

Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav , Musheerabad MLA Mutha Gopal came to Padma Colony in Nallakunta to offer their condolences to his parents. Talasani Srinivas said that the State government is making all efforts to bring back the mortal remains to Hyderabad. He also said that they were speaking to the Telangana NRI community and the Indian Embassy to support them.
