Hyderabad: A three-year-old girl, who was hit by a police vehicle in Yadadri on Wednesday, succumbed to death on Sunday.

The victim, B Pranitha, a resident of Dilsukhnagar area went on a pilgrimage visit to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri along with her father Mallesh and her relatives. As per the details, the family decided to spend the night in the temple premises after the darshan and slept under a tree in the parking area.

A head constable, A Shekhar visited the temple along with another constable in a patrolling vehicle. While reversing the vehicle, the constable didn't notice the girl, who came under the left front tire. The girl was immediately rushed to a government hospital in Bhongir and later shifted to a private hospital in LB Nagar. The victim suffered a serious head injury and internal injuries. While her condition was said to be stable on Friday, the doctors, however, declared her dead on Sunday around 6 am.

It is learned that Pranitha had lost her mother six months ago to dengue.

The constable was arrested on Thursday and was sent to judicial remand. Following the girl's death, the case has been altered to Section 304-A (Causing death by negligence) of the IPC.
