Hyderabad Bans All Remote-Controlled Flying Objects

Hyderabad: A ban has been imposed on all the remote-controlled flying objects in the city limits. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar announced the ban on Friday. As per the order, flying activities of Remotely Controlled Drones, Remotely Controlled Micro-Light Aircraft and Para-Gliders will not be allowed over the area bounded by a circle of 30 Km radius centered at State Capitals / Metro Cities along with 5 Km around strategic VAs/VPs in the Jurisdiction of Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate limits.

Citing an increasing trend by event organizers to use remote-controlled drones to capture aerial views for live telecasts and also photography, the ban also referred to the old advisory of Union Home Ministry issued on December 16, 2016 warning the usage of Para-Gliders, Remote Controlled Drones, Remote Controlled Micro Light Aircraft, etc by the Terrorist/ Anti-social elements in organizing attacks.

Under various sections of State Police Acts, the State/UT Police will prohibit the flying of such aerial platforms over the prescribed area. Speaking in this regard, the Police Commissioner said that violating this order shall be an offense under Section 287 and 336, of IPC and any person doing so would face punishment under section 188, 287 and 336 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

The ban will be in force for a period of 6 months starting from May 5 to November 11.
