Hyderabad: The Karnataka government has agreed to release 2.5 TMCs water to Jurala Project in response to the request made by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao recently. Karnataka will release the water latest by Friday evening, and the same will sent to Narayanpur Project to help quench the thirst of surrounding villages.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao personally telephoned his counterpart Kumaraswamy and thanked him for the goodwill gesture on behalf of people of Telangana and Mahabubnagar. He also hoped that the two neighbouring states should continue to cooperate in the same way on various issues and particularly resolve the pending water disputes.

In the wake of water scarcity in and around Narayanpur Project in Mahabubnagar due to the summer, Chief Minister KCR had called Kumaraswamy on April 30 for requesting the release of 3 TMCs water to Jurala Project. Chief Secretary S K Joshi too wrote to his counterpart TM Vijay Bhaskar to release water to benefit the inhabitants in the vicinity of Narayanpur Project.
