Ex Lokayukta Justice B Subhashan Reddy Passes Away

Hyderabad: For Chief Justice of Kerala and Chennai Courts Justice Bollampally Subhashan Reddy (76), passed away on Wedndesday at Hyderabad. He was ailing for quite some time and breathed his last in AIG Hospital at Gachibowli.

He was a judge of the High Court of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh and later served as Chief Justice of Kerala and Chennai High Courts.

Justice Subhashan Reddy served as the Chairperson on the AP State Human Rights Commission and also acted as the Lok Ayuktha after his retirement.

He was born in Hyderabad in 1943 in a landlords family. His grandfather Bollampally Venkat Reddy was court official in Nizam’s regime and his father also was an official in the Nizam's court. He studied at New Science College and Osmania University College of Science. He completed Law from the University College of Law, Osmania University.

He enrolled as Advocate on in the year 1966 and practised in several branches of law including Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Revenue and Taxation Laws.He also served as a senior lawyer and was elevated to the as Judge of the Andhra High Court in the year 1991. In the year 2001, he was elevated as Chief Justice of High Court of Judicature at Chennai and was transferred to High Court of Kerala on 21-11-2004.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed deep condolences at the passing of the former Chief Justice. He recalled Justice Reddy’s services to the judiciary and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
