Protests Continue Over Inter Results; Student Suicide Toll Reaches To 23

Rajanna Sircilla: Another student has died in the wake of the Intermediate results fiasco in the state. The Intermediate first-year student consumed poison three days ago after learning that she failed in the three subjects - Botany, Zoology and Chemistry. The student, Kamindla Lavanya was undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital in Karimnagar but succumbed to death on Monday.

Meanwhile, student organisations and political parties continued protests against the Telangana government in Hyderabad on Monday. They held protests outside the official residence and camp office of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Pragathi Bhavan, demanding the sacking of Education Minister. Police have taken several protesters into preventive custody.

The Intermediate Board published discrepancies in the results with over Three lakh students failing to secure pass marks resulting in the alleged suicides of the students. So far, 23 students have committed suicide since the announcement of the results on April 18. Students and parents have been protesting against the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) since last week demanding action over the sheer negligence of the Board.
