Hyderabad: BJP state president Dr K Laxman began an indefinite hunger strike at the party office in Nampally, Hyderabad on Monday as a protest against the Inter Board's negligence in the Intermediate results. Speaking in this regard, he said that BJP will take up the fight for the students and urged them not to resort to any extreme decisions.

Criticizing the attitude of the TRS government, the BJP leader asserted that the hunger strike will continue until the government does justice to the students.

He also announced that the party will stage a protest against the government at Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday.

Stating that he has never witnessed such large-scale irregularities take place in his 30-year political career, Mr Laxman questioned the government on playing with the lives of the students. He urged the students not to resort to suicide and parents to not lose faith.

Senior party leaders Ram Madhav, Bandar Dattatreya, DK Aruna, and Muralidhar Rao, who were present at the agitation, were supportive of him.

Asking the state government to take action against those responsible for the discrepancies in the Inter Board, the BJP leaders in the state demanded a probe by a sitting High Court judge.

They also alleged that the wrongdoers are being protected even though the government has set up a three-member panel of technical experts to look into the issue.

Meanwhile, massive protests took place at the office of Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's camp office on Monday. Police prevented activists from entering the offices and even arrested ABVP activists after they attempted to enter the camp office.
