Hyderabad: Professor Kancha Ilaiah a noted social activist and chairman of T-MASS (Telangana Mass and Social Sciences Organisation) who is known for his controversial statements and made yet another contentious comment on the Hindu Vaishnavaite seer Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swami.

Speaking at a meeting conducted by the TPSK and KVPS in Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad, on Wednesday in protest against the Jeeyar statements, Kancha Ilaiah said that a case of treason should be filed against the Chinna Jeeyar. This was in response to his statements made during a TV Channel Interview recently. Chinna Jeeyar had stated that the country needed the caste and creed segregation, as it was part of Hindutva.

Ilaiah also said that it was most unfortunate that the Telangana Chief Minister had prostrated before Jeeyar Swamy even before taking charge and that it was also unconstitutional. Ilaiah said that if no action is taking against the Jeeyar who says that caste and creed should exist in the present system, they would hold protests in front of his Ashram ,which was built in 500 acres which he had usurped, he warned. Senior Editor Bhupathi Venkateswarulu, KVPS State secretary Skylababu, poet Kaluva Mallyya and other national leaders participated in this meeting. They all agreed that legal action should be taken against Chinna Jeeyar for making such comments that were against the constitution.

Last year, Ilaiah said that Jeeyar was more dangerous than TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu and that he had the capability of dictating the government by playing on people's ignorance and conducting poojas and yagams.
