Air Passenger Traffic At RGIA Up By 31%

Hyderabad:The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad has witnessed an increase in passenger traffic.

Compared to the passenger movement in the year 2016, the RGIA has registered a 30.74 percent increase. According to Commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sudhir Kumar, the airline passenger movement was 2,09,07,570 last year while it was 1,59,91,023 the previous year.

CISF guards the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and other airports across the country.

Speaking during the Golden Jubilee Raising Day of CISF at the Mamidipally campus, he said that 1,73,145 aircraft movements were reported at the Hyderabad airport last year indicating a 22.68 percent hike in 2017 over the total of 1,41,128 aircraft movements.

Compared to 2017, the RGIA has witnessed passenger growth by 30.74 percent and an increase of flights by 22.68 percent, Mr Kumar said.

He stated that the CISF has taken up the latest technologies to upgrade its security system and is prepared to deal with unlawful interferences to civil aviation.

Several initiatives have been introduced at RGIA including face recognition technology (trial basis), automatic tray retrieval system, seamless e-boarding, express security check lanes, no-stamping of boarding cards among others.
