Hyderabad: Chandrayangutta resident Mohammed Qhadeer (19) was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials while he was planning attacks in India with Islamic State sympathiser, Abdul Basith.

As per the reports, Qhadeer got inspired by a 2017 interview of Basith, who was arrested and sought him out. However, the NIA officials caught him days before Qhadeer began making an IED by watching videos on YouTube. He was arrested at his residence in Hyderabad on August 12, 2018, with Basith when they were planning attacks in India according to the orders of an online handler of Islamic State terrorist organisation.

In the charge-sheet, the NIA sleuths told the court, "Qhadeer expressed his interest to leave the country and join IS during the meetings, but Basith, who gave information about ISIS in Syria, told him to wait for the right time and know more about it."

Basith’s friends Omer Farooq Hussaini, Maaz Hassan Farooqi, Abdul Abrar, Mutiur-Rehman, and Hassan Ansari who were also IS sympathisers participated in several meetings with Qhadeer discussing ISIS ideology. They used the application, Telegram to converse with each other and avoid tracking by the agencies.

However, with no one other than Qhadeer showing an active interest, Basith shared Qhadeer’s contact with Huzaifa Bakistani, an online handler of IS from Pakistan and living in Afghanistan to arrange migration to Syria.

Amidst this, Qhadeer began watching videos on YouTube to learn assembling and fabricating IEDs. He also purchased chemicals and other material via Amazon.

As per the details in the charge-sheet, at least 10 social media accounts were created by Qhadeer to converse with the online IS handlers and propagate terrorist ideology by using different groups. He created his Telegram account with ID 'IronMan' with a US number purchased from a website.
