Velocity Junior College

Hyderabad : Velocity Junior college in Hyderabad which was once the toast of the town for Intermediate Education with special emphasis on IIT, EAMCET and NEET coaching has shut down indefinitely causing much distress to the +200 students studying in the college. With the Intermediate board exams due in March , worried parents of these students were seen waiting outside the college premises. They also alleged that the college management were not taking any of their calls were unavailable for any comment or explanation.

The college which was started by a team from Chaitanya College faculty with IIT and IIM backgrounds had started off in a big way by investing huge amounts in the premises and also paid hefty salaries to the faculty ( some were even given one crore per annum based on their qualification and experience).Recently rumours were floating that the college and the school had stopped paying salaries to its faculty since the past six months and the students were just going to school/college and coming back. Now the rentals were also due for the premises since the college had no building of its own. It is not clear whether the college has run out funds and the investors and promoters details are also not known .

The website shows M. Radhakrishna , S. Vamsi Krishna and Y Lawrence as the founder directors of the Institution who were know to be expert mentors in the fields of IIT and EAMCET coaching.

Fees of more than Rs 2 to 3 lakhs were collected by the management and neither the study materials were given nor the lab classes were being conducted. Extra money for examination and other miscellaneous fees were being collected as well. There was also news of faculty being changed or replaced very quickly leading to doubts if their salaries were being paid on time or not.

The parents from various branches y met with Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) officials and filed a formal complaint against the institution. B Jayaprada the District Intermediate Educational Officer (DiEO) for Hyderabad said that they would investigate into the matter and allow the students to write the examinations so that they don't suffer because of the college mismanagement.
