Miryalaguda: "Pranay wanted us and our yet to be born child to lead a life in a caste-free society. We will make sure our children are not dragged into the quagmire of caste. My world has suddenly turned upside down and I have to spend the rest of my life without him. I could not spend these few days without him, and have to spend my entire life only because in the name of honour, his precious life was cut short."

These are the words of Amrutha, Pranay's bereaved wife who still has to come to terms with the loss of her husband, who was brutally hacked to death on Friday afternoon. The perpetrators? Her father who handed a contract to a terror suspect, Mohammed Abdul Bari. The infamous terror suspect, accused in the Haren Pandya murder case, used another gangster, Asghar Ali, to reach out to a Bihar-based criminal, Subhas Sharma,to carry out the horrific killing.

Maruthi Rao has been taken into custody along with all the other accused who were presented before the media yesterday. Amrutha revealed that Pranay always detested caste and dreamt of a society in which caste had no place. He always spoke about this to me. My parents however, did not accept my love for Pranay and my marriage to him. This was because Pranay belonged to a "lower" caste in their opinion. We had hoped to bring up our child together as a citizen who does not carry the badge of caste.

We thought of travelling abroad. Because of the peculiar circumstances we are in, we had to go in for an early marriage. I'm only 21 and Pranay was barely 24. We had big dreams, but caste came in the way of our dreams coming true. My Pranay has been taken away from me, but I am not afraid. Pranay did not want me to get scared. I will raise our child as symbol of a caste-free society."
