Warangal: Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) Chief Manda Krishna Madiga condemned the honour killing of Dalit youth Pranay Perumalla in the premises of a hospital at Miryalguda in Nalgonda district. On Friday, Pranay was stabbed to death by a contract killer in the presence of his pregnant wife, Amrutha. The MRPS leader demanded that an investigation by a High Court sitting Judge be carried out in the matter.

Amrutha's father Maruthi Rao was arrested by the police on Saturday, for hiring contract killers to execute his own son-in-law. Maruthi Rao, who hails from an upper caste (vaisya), was not happy with a Dalit youth marrying his daughter.

The Nalgonda honour killing has created an angst among people of the State. Manda Krishna warned of culprits going scot free because of their association with politicians. "Caretaker IT Minister KTR should suspend the culprits from TRS instead of sending messages over Twitter. Incidents like these are being reported because of the support of the ruling party," he said.

Primary accused in the case, Karim is a member of the Congress Working Committee, the MRPS Chief observed. Adding that Maruthi Rao had the support of all the political parties, he alleged that the police failed to protect the Dalit youth from being killed despite threat to his life.

"Maruthi Rao had the support of police officers. He spoke to the DSP for 15 minutes, an hour before the murder. Everyone knows that he had acquired properties by illegal means. The culprits clearly had the ruling party's support. KTR should clarify on this and ensure justice is served," he asserted.

The leader pleaded with the ruling party to permit installation of Pranay's statue in Miryalaguda. He called on the people for holding Mandal level protests in the mornings and candle light marches in the evenings from September 18 to 24.
