6 Lakh Telangana Girls To Get Health And Hygiene Kits

Warangal: Telangana State government is planning to distribute Balika Aarogya Raksha (Health and Hygiene) kits to 6 lakh girls, studying in government educational institutions across the state. The government would spend Rs 20,000 crore annually on education, said Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari.

He inaugurated new classrooms in Telangana State Residential school for Girls and Junior College at Hasanparthy. Srihari also distributed health and hygiene kits at the institute.

The new scheme would benefit many girls since five lakh students were studying in 800 residential schools in the state. "The government spends Rs 100 crore on the distribution of kits and also Rs 1600 for each student. The Kit will carry 13 products including toothbrush, detergent soap, coconut oil, bathing soap, shampoo and other items," Kadiam Srihari said.

He added that government had provided the facilities at the cost of Rs 150 crore and established 500 new schools, 80 KGBVs and 53 degree colleges. "The government is working to provide top quality food and the days of serving non-vegetarian items will be extended to eight days in a month. The quality of food providing by Telangana government is far better than that provided in corporate schools," He said.

MLA Aruri Ramesh said the new classrooms and the dormitory at the institution were constructed at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore.Telangana State Residential Educational institutions society secretary A Satyanarayana Reddy, Director of School education Vijay Kumar, Joint Director of Education P Rajiv, Joint Collector Dayanand, DEO Narayana Reddy and others were present at the event.
