Amid traffic jams in some of most travelled routes of the city, GHMC officials are reportedly on alert to ensure smooth flow of traffic on important routes like Mehdipatnam, Malakpet and IS Sadan. On Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed the officials to remain alert in view of MET department’s heavy rain forecast in the state for three to four days beginning Sunday.

The Meteorological Department warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Nalgonda, Khammam, Warangal and Mahbubnagar districts of the state. Subsequently, Chief Secretary S K Joshi issued instructions to all officials to coordinate with all the departments and take necessary steps.

However, several schools and colleges in the city have declared holidays in the wake of safety concerns following continuous rains.
