Contempt petition against Telangana Speaker Madhusudhana Chary 

A Contempt petition was filed against S Madhusudhana Chary, Speaker, Telangana Legislative Assembly by Congress MLA’s Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar in the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday. Both the leaders were earlier expelled from the house by the speaker for disrupting the proceedings of the house. In March earlier this year, speaker expelled both these MLAS’s when Mr. Komatireddy flung his head phones injuring Legislative Council chairperson Swamy Goud.

The two MLAs moved the High Court against their expulsion, to which the court ruled out the expulsion as invalid as the principles of natural justice were not followed. The High Court asked the speaker to restore all MLA privileges to the two leaders. However, the two leaders have claimed that the Assembly has not yet restored their membership, and hence filed a contempt petition.
