Hyderabad: The legal obstacles for the teacher recruitment process have been cleared with the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday giving direction to the Telangana government to revise the notification and conduct the exam on January 4, 2018.

After a prolonged wait for the DSC notification, Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) issued notification on November 11 to recruit 8,900 vacant teacher posts in government schools.

However, as the state government had carved out 21 new districts out of the existing 10 districts, local and non-local issue cropped up creating a huge confusion among the aspirants. Some of them approached the court which, upon a thorough examination of the issue, directed the state government to revise the process as per 10 districts instead of 31.

As the recruitment of teachers is done at the district level, candidates belonging to a district are considered local and others non-locals. The candidates felt it a big inconvenience as the districts were created only recently and those belonging to a district till the time of formation of new district suddenly became non-locals.

Taking this into consideration, the High Court directed the government to revise the criterion. The TSPSC released a revised notification on Tuesday. More than one lakh people applied for the jobs all over the state. Those who could not apply earlier can do so before December 30 through online facility. And the exam will be conducted on January 4. Those who already applied need not apply again. Candidates can change their district options for the purpose of local status from December 15.

As per the new format, 20 percent weightage shall be given for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) score for all the posts, except for School Assistant (Physical Education) and Physical Education Teacher, the GO stated.

The scores secured in Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET), Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TSTET) and Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be considered as per the qualifying marks decided by the government for each exam.

Under this notification, school assistants, secondary grade teacher, language pandits and physical education teacher will be recruited.
