Till a day back, there were several cases of suicides where youngsters sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana. Now, within a few hours after the Centre announced its decision on the contentious issue, similar incidents have been reported from the Seemandhra region.

So far, two suicide deaths have been reported from the Seemandhra region. Two persons committed suicide over the division of state while two others made a suicide bid.

Srinivasa Rao, a resident of Tatipudi in Vizianagaram district committed suicide by consuming pesticides. Srinivas was a home-guard in II-police station.

Guruswami who watched Digvijaya Singhs's statement on bifurcating the state, suffered a cardiac arrest at his Singnagar residence in Vijayawada. The 48-year-old victim was watching a news channel when tragedy struck.

Protesting against the division of the state, a student allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a hotel in Guntur district.

According to reports, he was a staunch supporter of Samaikyandhra and had been closely following the developments on the Telangana issue for the past one week.

He had told his friends on several occasions that there will be big trouble for Andhra people if the state is divided and we cannot go to Hyderabad, reports said.

Soon after he jumped from the building, the locals rushed him to a nearby hospital. But doctors declared him brought dead.

The deceased who hailed from Tenali, had rented a lodge in Guntur yesterday. The body has been kept at the Guntur mortuary. Scores of Samaikyandhra activists and students are thronging the hospital to pay their last respects.

In a related development, a student in Ananthapuram attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol. Police doused the fire and took him to a hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
