‘Telangana poses threat to national security’

Director of Intelligence Bureau S Asif Ibrahim on Thursday made sensational statements on the national security in connection with Telangana issue. The senior IPS officer’s comments came in as a firm parallel to the news report posted in Sakshipost. (National security under threat with separate Telangana?)

Speaking at the conference of DGPs/IGPs in New Delhi today, Ibrahim said that the Telangana issue is merely not an affair of Andhra Pradesh, but an issue that poses new challenges, nationwide. Craving out Telangana from AP would be a threat not only to the security agencies of the State, but also of the country, he said.
In a related development, Union Minister Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the GoM met today but Finance Minister P Chidambaram was absent as he went abroad. Once he returns, the GoM would hold one more meeting and finalise the draft. According to sources, the next meeting is likely on November 27.
Meanwhile, Seemandhra Union Ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and JD Seelam met the GoM on Telangana headed by Sushil Kumar Shinde. Seemandhra union ministers reportedly insisted upon conferring Union Territory status to Hyderabad. According to sources, they decided to oppose bifurcation tooth and nail, if their demand of making Hyderabad as UT is not obliged. Replying to a question after meeting the GoM members, they said that they will speak on the Special packages later.
