Suspicious Parcels Sent To KCR Family, Case Under Investigation

Hyderabad: City police have launched a manhunt to nab miscreants who booked 62 parcels meant to be handed over to VIPs including Telangana chief minister, KCR, members of his family, other VIPs and police officers, among others. The parcels are learnt to contain toxic industrial effluents and were booked in the name of two Osmania University professors, former Vice-Chancellor, S. Ramachandram and a professor from the department of chemistry. Both the faculty members denied any knowledge of the parcels in question. Police are scrutinising CCTV footage in the area as the Secunderabad post office from where they were booked, does not have CCTV cameras.

On Friday, an individual came to the Secunderabad Post Office to book 62 parcels mostly VIPs including chief minister KCR, his son KTR, daughter, Kavitha and others. He claimed that the parcels contained gifts from the Osmania University to the dignitaries. The postal authorities asked him to return on Saturday to complete the billing process as it was already past the time to accept parcels. The man returned on Saturday and paid an amount of Rs. 7,000 for the 62 parcels.

The parcels were kept in the post office over the weekend and on Monday, staff sensed foul smell coming from them. The postal department officials opened the packages only to find a chemical which prompted them to alert the police. The cops seized the packages and sent the chemical for forensic analysis. They also came across a letter which contained an unclear message addressed to the VIPs.
