TRS BJP Gear Up For Huzurnagar By-Election

Hyderabad: TRS, Congress and BJP are gearing up for the Huzurnagar by-elections. All parties are making every effort to wrest this seat and it remains to be seen as to who will bag Huzurnagar now. TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy contested for the Lok Sabha election from Nalgonda, and after winning in parliamentary elections he vacated the Huzurnagar Assembly seat which he won in the Telangana Assembly elections held on December 07, 2018. Three major political parties in Telangana vying with each other for the seat. All eyes are now on the Huzurnagar assembly seat. Congress senior leaders are set to meet Congress high command in New Delhi to get the Huzurnagar ticket as Uttam Kumar Reddy wants his wife N Padmavathi Reddy to contest for the Huzurnagar seat.

Telangana BJP head Dr K Laxman said that his party's focus is to widen the base and strengthen the party in Telangana, and that as a part of this, Huzurnagar by-election is an important development. The BJP wants to be seen as a party with a wider base especially in the light of the drubbing the party received in the Telangana elections. The Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh alone made it to the assembly while all others including heavyweights like Lakshman, Kishan Reddy and Chintala Ramachandra Reddy fell by the wayside. The BJP hopes to cash in on the goodwill it appears to enjoy as revealed by the April 11 parliamentary elections in which it managed to wrest three Lok Sabha seats. On the other side Congress is making all the attempts to get the assembly seat back.

BJP started its groundwork by carrying out its membership drive from booth level in Huzurnagar constituency. It is learnt that senior leaders of the party from New Delhi will visit the Huzurnagar to boost the confidence levels of the local BJP cadre.

TRS candidate Sanampudi Saidi Reddy is expected to get the ticket again as he was defeated by 7,466 votes last time against Uttam Kumar Reddy in 2018 Huzurnagar assembly elections.

However, political parties are taking Huzurnagar by-elections as a prestige issue and started ground level preparations before the release of notification.
