New Delhi: The Congress party is receiving one shock after the other lately. The senior leaders in the party are lining up to switch parties. In a massive jolt to the Congress, former Minister and Congress party senior leader DK Aruna on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party around midnight.

Speaking after joining the BJP, DK Aruna criticized the Congress party as to how much she suffered in the party and added that there was no response from the High Command despite her several complaints on the party leaders.

Stating that there was no point for her to stay in the party where there is no respect, she revealed that this was her major reason to quit Congress.

The former Minister said that the party has become weak in the country and in Telangana adding that several leaders are joining the TRS only for power.

Opining that the internal frictions in the Congress are resulting in the party's defeat, DK Aruna said that the BJP is the only party which can question TRS and in order to defeat Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao, there is a need for another national party in Telangana.

Congress could not utilize the opportunity which is the reason the TRS came to power the second time, she said. However, she added that the public will see development only when BJP comes to power.

DK Aruna, who contested from Gadwal constituency in the Telangana Assembly polls, lost to TRS candidate Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy. Since then, she has been upset with the TPCC.

With the former Home Minister leaving the Congress and joining the TRS already causing ripples in the party, now, DK Aruna's defection to BJP has come as a major blow to the party. She is all set to contest as the Lok Sabha candidate from Mahbubnagar for the BJP.

Meanwhile, two other Congress leaders will also be joining the BJP. Raghuveer Reddy, son of Senior Congress leader Jana Reddy, along with Khammam MP Pongalati Srinivas Reddy, are also preparing to don the saffron scarf. The list of candidates contesting for BJP in the Lok Sabha elections is likely to be announced today.
