The message was loud and clear when the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi spoke of his intention to enter Andhra Pradesh politics and contest there. While speaking on the day of vote counting, Owaisi said that he would definitely set foot in Andhra Pradesh like Chandrababu did in Telangana .

This was reiterated when the Hyderabad MP, while addressing his first press conference after the TRS defeated the Grand Alliance (Praja Kutami). He vowed to campaign in Andhra Pradesh during the general elections and also declared that out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats there, Chandrababu would not even win two seats because of the anti-incumbency sentiment which was slowly growing against him in the state.

During a party meeting conducted with his partymen at Darul Salam in Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the party discussed the role to be played in the national politics and expressed confidence that TRS and AIMIM will be sweeping all the MP seats in the state of Telangana in Lok Sabha elections.

He also declared that he will be campaigning in support of YSRCP chief, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh elections and that he would do so in support of his “good friend” YSRC supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, with the aim of defeating the State’s Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the upcoming elections in AP. He said that Jagan Mohan Reddy was a good friend that he would definitely campaign in support of him. Owaisi’s friendship with Jagan Mohan Reddy goes a long way back as they knew each other from their school days in Hyderabad Public School. It may be recalled that YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was attacked at the VIP lounge of the Vizag airport on October 25, Owaisi was quick to condemn the incident and called the attack on YSR Congress Party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy 'cowardly.' He also demanded to know how could a person bring a dagger into the airport amid such high security arrangements.
