Another spin-off of the Telangana election results is that Lagadapati Rajagopal’s bluff has been called. That his effigy was burnt by TRS workers in Jangaon shows the extent to which people saw through his game.

A few days ago the Congress leader, who is reportedly close to Chandrababu Naidu, declared that Mahakutami or grand alliance would win about 70 seats. Lagadapati also predicted that the TRS would be reduced to a mere rump, a bloc of 25 seats or so.

Observers said that Lagadapati had in fact, not conducted any scientific survey and from the way things have panned out, it appears that he was only indulging in electoral kite-flying.

Rubbishing Lagadapati’s forecast, caretaker IT Minister KTR stated emphatically that the TRS would storm to victory. He also explained on Twitter the reason why he was being dismissive of the self-styled Congress psephologist’s survey. KTR revealed that two months ago, the same Lagadapati had predicted as many seats (70) for the ruling TRS. KTR shared his WhatsApp exchange on Twitter to substantiate his point. Lagadapati, in the final analysis, has become the butt of jokes and has lost all semblance of credibility after Telangana Election results.
