Hyderabad: Tight security measures have been taken to guard the EVMs, in strong rooms throughout Telangana state. The EVMs were shifted to more than 15 strong rooms in Hyderabad in Friday, where heavy security is being deployed to safeguard them . A three-tier security plan is being opted for the safeguarding the EVMs, this time.

“All the strong rooms have a single entry/exit and are locked. While one key was handed over to the strong room in-charge , another key was handed over to the person with magistrate powers,” said Mahendra Reddy, Director General of Police.

With the three-tier security plan, Central Armed Forces were deployed at the door at the first level with 39 officers guarding the door in three shifts. At the second level state armed forces were deployed, followed by city police cops at the third level. Strong rooms are provided with 24x7 electricity, equipped with a generator, in any case of blackout. No vehicles including those of the police are allowed into the premises.

“If any person wants to cross the second-level security, they should register their details in the login books which is in the control of the Armed Forces and will be video graphed,” added the official.
