Hyderabad: Former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal picked the Congress-led Mahakutami (people's front) when asked who would win the December 7 Telangana assembly elections. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the former Congress leader predicted Mahakutami's win in the upcoming polls.

While saying that he wouldn't reveal the possible outcome of the elections, he said the Congress's people's front had an edge over the TRS party. "There might be hung assembly if the voter turnout decreases from the 2014 tally. Else, the Congress alliance would emerge victorious. We have estimated the outcomes based on the current mood, candidates's campaign, local issues and others," he said.

Lagadapati's Telangana election survey was conducted over the span of last 45 days with a sample size of 1,200 to 2,000 people in more than 100 constituencies out of the 119 in the State. All walks of life--students, farmers, businessmen, employees etc., caste-based sentiments and popularity of various candidates have been taken into consideration.

In his district-wise of the results, the former Vijayawada MP said the TRS might win majority seats in Warangal, Medak and Nizamabad districts, while the Congress was leading in Khammam, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and Adilabad districts. Karimnagar and Mahbubnagar districts would see tough fight between the TRS and Congress, he added.

The former politician further said the BJP would increase its seat tally considerably compared to the 2014 results. Adding to his recent prediction of victories of independent candidates Shiva Kumar Reddy (Narayanpet) and Anil Jadhav (Boath), he said Jalandhar Reddy (Makthal), Malreddy Ranga Reddy (Ibrahimpatnam) and Gaddam Vinod (Bellampalli) would also win.
