Kothagudem Likely To Stay With TRS, Bhadrachalam Poses A Challenge

Kothagudem constituency is in the district of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana and falls under the Khammam Lok Sabha constituency. In the dissolved House this constituency was represented by Jalagam Venkat Rao. This is the only constituency to be won by the TRS party. Venkat Rao won the seat against Vanama Venkateswara Rao from the YSR Congress party, with a majority of 16,521 votes. Total number of voters in the constituency are 2,05,253.

Kothagudem has been won by Congress for three terms, and as many times by TDP. Jalagam Venkat Rao is the son of Ex Chief Minister Jalagam Vengal Rao, is running again from the TRS party. Vanama Venkateswara Rao from Congress is going to face off with Venkat Rao this time.

Bhadrachalam (ST): Bhadrachalam (ST) constituency is the Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana. Bhadrachalam (ST) falls under the Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituency. In the dissolved House this constituency was represented by Sunnam Rajaiah from the CPM party.

Rajaiah won against Phanisawaramma from Telugu Desam party with a majority of little over 1000 votes.

The total number of voters in the constituency is 1,33,756.

Bhadrachalam (ST) has been a major strong hold of Communists, and of the 16 elections conducted to the constituency CPM has won the seat eight terms, CPI thrice and Congress on four occasions. Sunnam Rajaiah is seeking a fourth term against Podem Veeraiah from Congress.

Pinapaka (ST): Pinapaka (ST) constituency is in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana. Pinapaka (ST) falls under the Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituency. In the dissolved House this constituency was represented by Payam Venkateswarlu from the YSR Congress party, who later switched over to the TRS . Venkateswarlu won against Shankar Nayak from the TRS party with a majority of 14, 065 votes. The total number of voters in the constituency are 1,72,472.

This constituency came into existence with re-organisation of constituencies in the year of 2008. Pinapaka has voted only twice in the assembly elections. Both Congress and YSR Congress have won the seat once each.

Payam Venkateswarlu is running for his second term against Rega Kantha Rao from Congress.
