The Ibrahimpatnam assembly constituency in the undivided Ranga Reddy district was in the news over the Congress-led people's front's ticket allotment choice in the recent times. Although Sama Ranga Reddy was fielded as the Congress candidate, rumour has it that Congress rebel Malreddy Ranga Reddy stands a good chance to snatch a win amid tough fight from TRS candidate Manchireddy Kishan Reddy and BJP's Kotha Ashok Goud.

Upset over the denial of ticket to him, senior Congress leader and Ranga Reddy DCC President Khyama Mallesh resigned from the party and joined the TRS recently. On the other side, two-time MLA from the constituency Manchireddy Kishan Reddy shifted his loyalties to the TRS after winning as a TDP candidate. The constituency has 257,681 total voters.

The Maheshwaram assembly constituency in the undivided Ranga Reddy district was represented by TRS leader Teegala Krishna Reddy in the recently dissolved Assembly. In the 2014 elections, Krishna Reddy, the then TDP candidate, defeated former minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy by 30,784 votes. Prior to that, Krishna Reddy was trumped by Sabitha Indra Reddy by a small majority of 7,833 votes in 2009.

In the previous election, former CPI MP Amjad Pasha suffered a humiliating defeat from the Maheshwaram constituency. With the BJP's Andela Sriramulu Yadav also in the fray this time around, the TRS and Congress will fight it out in the upcoming polls. However, some analysts predict a comfortable victory for Congress candidate Sabitha Indra Reddy, while others seem to betting on the success of the TRS heavyweight.
