TRS Could Lose Vemulawada, Retain KTR’s Sircilla

The Vemulawada assembly constituency in the undivided Karimnagar district, ever since its inception in 2009 has been represented by Chennamaneni Ramesh, who won as a TDP candidate in 2009 and TRS candidate in 2010 and 2014. He defeated Congress leader Aadi Srinivas on three occasions.

In 2014, Aadi Srinivas was within touching distance from victory as a BJP candidate but 4,725 votes separated the two leaders. In the upcoming polls, however, it looks like the TRS will find it difficult to retain the seat mainly due to internal rifts in the party and opposition wave against its three-time MLA in the 192,669 strong electorate.

The Sircilla Assembly Constituency in the undivided Karimnagar district, which was represented by TRS candidate K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) in the recently dissolved House, needs no introduction. With a majority of over 53,000 votes, KTR emerged victorious over his long-time opponent from Congress, K Ravinder Rao, who now joined the TRS.

KTR will in the December 7 polls face another Congress bigwig KK Mahender Reddy. Although Congress working president Revanth Reddy is conducting several rallies in the constituency, KTR is bound to win, as things appear.
