Narsampet To Remain A Hard Nut To Crack For TRS?

22 Nov, 2018 18:29 IST|Sakshi
Congress candidate Donthi Madhava Reddy

The Narsampet constituency in the Warangal Rural district appears to be a close contest between the Congress's Donthi Madhava Reddy and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's (TRS) Peddi Sudarshan Reddy. The 2,01,010 strong electorate, with a voter turnout of 87% in 2014 elections, voted to power Madhava Reddy, who contested as an Independent (Congress rebel) over second-placed Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and third-placed Revuri Prakash Reddy.

With a majority of 18,376 votes, Madhava Reddy stood strong against the TRS wave in 2014 in the context of the formation of new State. He later returned to the Congress. Also, Madhava Reddy's strong candidature in the upcoming elections will be clubbed with the support of the existing TDP cadre.

Until recently, Madhava Reddy locked horns with another bigwig in the constituency, TDP's Revuri Prakash Reddy over the Narsampet seat. But, the alliance partners decided to field Madhava Reddy while giving the Warangal West ticket to the TDP candidate. Will Revuri Prakash Reddy's support to the Congress candidate in Narsampet boost the alliance's chances?
