The Telugu Desam party has allocated the Kukatpally assembly ticket to Nandamuri Suhasini, Nandamuri Hari Krishna's daughter and NTR's granddaughter. Suhasini is the half-sister of popular Tollywood actor Jr. NTR, though it is unlikely that he may campaign for her, keeping in mind the fact that he may not want to rile the TRS. TDP politbureau member Peddireddy was a hot favourite for the TDP ticket, but party supremo, Chandrababu Naidu, it appears, hopes to cash in on the Nandamuri factor in Kukatpally.

The assembly seat which falls under the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency had over 4,69,000 voters in 2014. It was represented by Madhavaram Krishna Rao, who won on a TDP ticket in the previous assembly elections and later crossed over to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

TDP has in all announced the names of 12 out of the 14 seats it hopes to contest in Telangana. In the case of Kukatpalli, Chandrababu reckons that a large number of 'settlers' would vote for the TDP especially bearing in mind the Nandamuri factor and a lady candidate, in addition to caste appeal.
