Minister T Harish Rao

Minister T Harish Rao who is filing his nominations today from Sircilla this afternoon addressed a gathering of Beedi Workers and Union leaders who joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Karmika Vibhagam (TRSKV), as part of his campaign.

He came out strongly on the Grand Alliance forged by the Congress and Chandrababu Naidu and said that if the people of Telangana voted for them, would they continue the welfare schemes which have been formulated for the welfare of the people , he asked. Urging them to use their discretion to drive away the forces which not only blocked the formation of the state, but also who are working against the state welfare.

He said the there were more number of Beedi makers in the state of Telangana than anywhere, who were neglected by the previous Governments. Many of them took to Beedi making as they couldn't farm due to scanty rainfall. Others left for Gulf countries to support their families and women took to beedi making as they had no other skills due to which they fell ill inhaling the tobacco, but the previous government never took care of their needs. He reminded them that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had filed several petitions to the previous governments seeking their help for the beedi workers but they never bothered. It was only after KCR came to power that he started a welfare scheme for them such providing pension schemes and health insurance benefits through ESI, a credit which goes only to the Chief Minister, he lauded. Harish Rao also promised two-bedroom flats for the beedi workers if voted to power.

Harish Rao reminded them that KCR was responsible for bringing the Krishna and Godavari river waters to the state of Telangana and that the Kaleshwaram irrigation project was his dream project which will benefit the people of that region.

He said that the Seetharama, Kalvakurthi, Bima, Palmuru irrigation projects, when completed will turn Telangana into a Green basin, beating Konaseema in the Godavari region.
