Pargi assembly constituency is located in Vikarabad district and falls under the Chevella Lok Sabha seat. Pargi was created as a separate constituency in 1952. Pargi comprises the mandals of Pargi, Domah. Kulkacherla, Pudur and Gandeed.

The Pargi assembly seat was won by T. Ram Mohan Reddy of the Congress in 2014. He defeated one of the most powerful leaders of the region in recent years, Koppula Harishwar Reddy of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in a closely contested election. Interestingly, Harishwar Reddy, who had won the seat on four previous occasions, had defeated Ram Mohan Reddy in 2009. This time around there will be a face-off between Ram Mohan Reddy and Harishwar Reddy’s son, Koppula Mahesh Reddy.

With a voter base of close to one and a half lakhs, the seat is a strong cradle of the Telangana cause. The TRS candidate, veteran Harishwar Reddy's son, Koppula Mahesh Reddy, who hopes to upstage his rival from Mahakutami, should be able to pull this off, as things appear for now.

Tandur assembly constituency

One of the heavyweights in the caretaker Telangana government, transport minister P. Mahender Reddy, represents this constituency in Vikarabad district. In 2014, Mahender Reddy representing the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, had defeated Malkud Narayan Rao of the Congress by a comfortable majority.

Created in 1952 as an assembly constituency, Tandur forms a part of the Chevella Lok Sabha seat and comprises four mandals, Basheerabad, Yalal, Peddemul and Tandur. It has close to 2 lakh voters and is well-known for its limestone and cement industries.

Panjugula Pilot Rohith Reddy has been fielded by the Congress to take on the biggie from TRS. While the Mahakutami is exuding confidence, claiming this region is a Congress stronghold, supplemented by a TDP voter base, the TRS is equally sure of retaining this seat. In all likelihood, Tandur should go the TRS way.
