Khammam: Congress and the ‘MahaKutami’ Confusion seems to be the current script for the upcoming Telangana Elections in Khammam. Ever since the Grand Alliance formed and the seat sharing discussion started before Dussehra, there has been a lot of confusion as to who will get what in the bargain.

With the discussions still going on and the names of the candidates yet to be released post Diwali, many Congress aspirants are extremely tensed about their fate. Even with the Congress High Command assuring them of tickets, the uncertainty still continues till the names are revealed.

Kothagudem: For this constituency the TPCC leaders promised former minister Vanama Venkateswara Rao, the Assembly ticket but the news is that CPI is insisting on it considering it to be their bastion and the party has not shown any hesitancy to snap ties with the Congress for the seat.

The CPI were offered three seats that of Wyra, Bellampalli and Husnabad. But they are also keen on contesting from Kothagudem. TPCC leadership is trying to appease the CPI leadership on this. Vanama Vanama Venkateswara Rao, an old war horse who has been contesting from this seat since 1978 has won it in 1989, 1999 and 2004, shifted loyalties from Congress to YSRCP in 2014, but lost to Jalagam Venkat Rao and rejoined the Congress again after losing the battle.

Khammam: Vaddiraju Ravichandra, a businessman and Gayatri Granites owner and a popular figure in the district was already assured a ticket by the Ongress from Khammam constituency. The Congress sources revealed it would be Ravichandra who is going to give tough fight to the TRS candidate and former MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar. But the Congress as part of the Mahakutami has promised the seat to TDP candidate and former MP Nama Nageswara Rao.

Palair: Kandala Upender Reddy, a prominent contractor, who had been eyeing the ticket since 2009 is a serious Congress aspirant from Palair, is also a tensed man as a former MLC Potla Nageswara Rao, a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party from Khammam was asked to contest from Palair. At present, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, is the TRS candidate from Palair.

The other probable Congress candidates are Chimala Venkateswarlu from Yellandu ,which is the birthplace of Singareni Collieries Company Limited and the TRS nominee is K Kanakaiah. Rega Kantha Rao is the Congress aspirant who is trying his luck for the third time from Pinapaka , a ST reserved constituency which was won by Payam Venkateswarulu of the YSRCP and Krishnababu and Krishnamohan who are both are vying for a Congress ticket from the temple town of Bhadrachalam which was won by the CPI(M) candidate Sunnam Rajaiah in 2014.
