Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is currently brainstorming over its plans and proposals in administrative, organizational and ideological basis to come up with key decisions on issues that the party wishes to address after attaining power in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. As part of the brainstorming exercise, the Congress manifesto committee under the leadership of chairman Damodar Rajanarasimha convened a meeting to discuss several issues at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday. Committee Co-chairman Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Convenor Mahesh Kumar Goud, members Malreddy Ranga Reddy, Manavatha Rai, Kuruva Vijay Kumar, Indira Shobhan, Sudhakar Yadav, several associations and intellectuals participated in the discussion.

Vehicular registration code from TS to TG

The committee discussed the proposal to alter the State's vehicular registration code to "TG" from "TS". A resolution was passed in favour of the change in registration code to TG after it was argued that the TRS party named the code to TS so that it rhymed (TRS) with the party's name. Also, a decision was taken with respect to the change in the State government's official seal.

''Jaya Jaya He'' Telangana official State song

The Congress leaders finalized on a decision to make the "Jaya Jaya He Telangana" song composed by popular poet Ande Sri as the official song of the state. In addition to these decisions, the committee recommended that a special committee with Telangana agitators and intellectuals be formulated to discuss certain important issues.

Financial proposals

Speaking to media after the manifesto committee meeting, Damodar Rajanarasimha said that the committee was considering the proposals for providing Rs 5,000 financial assistance to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in case of death of any family member and to provide pensions to former MPTCs, ZPTCs and Sarpanches. We are planning to release the manifesto on November 1, he announced.

Manifesto Committee co-chairman Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also said that the party leaders were in favour of providing pension to former local body representatives. In every district headquarters, a Telangana martyrs memorial and a medical college would be promised, he added.
