KCR Firm On Stamping Out Dissidence

Telangana caretaker chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao is said to be firm on the 105 candidates whose names have been announced by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. KCR is reportedly unhappy with murmurs of dissent within the party. It is believed that the public meetings to have been held in Khammam and warangal were put off on account of the dissidence within the party.

The TRS supremo is keen on retaining the strongholds by bringing all aspirants on board before these meetings are held. There have been reports of dissidents coming out into the open in TRS in quite an uncharacteristic way.

All this comes on the heels of KCR's huge public meetings at Nizamabad on Wednesday, Nalgonda on Thursday and Wanaparthy on Friday. KCR is said to be keen on maintaining the momentum and not to let dissidents mar the face of electioneering in the state.

Most of the sticky points in these districts and certain constituencies center around tickets, unsurprisingly.

Meanwhile, it is believed that KTR and other senior party leaders are on the job of pacifying many of the dissidents and rebel candidates in the party. The party leadership is keen that no cracks appear in the TRS-Warangal fort. There are eleven Assembly seats in all in the Combined Warangal district.

The TRS leadership had announced names of candidates for ten of these constituencies. And the one constituency from where the name of the candidate was to be announced later, Warangal East, was held earlier by Konda Surekha, who quit the party to join the Congress. She has since been unsparing in her criticism of KCR and other TRS leaders and has a fairly large base of her own in the district.
