Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president Revanth Reddy has for the first time after the IT raids on his residences spoken to the media here today. Terming the raids as a plot against him by the TRS government and the BJP government at the Centre, he attempted to justify the higher valuations of his properties saying they were related an increase in market value. Revanth clarified that the truth about the allegations made against him would be realised if he had earned any new properties by verifying them with the two affidavits he had submitted during 2009 and 2014 elections. Adding that allegations were being made against the tenants who were living in his four-storeyed building for 22 years, he said that his relatives and family members, including his father-in-law Padmanabha Reddy were being painted as his benamis. He said that his in-laws had ancestral wealth and property for generations.

While Revanth Reddy said that the number of companies listed against his address and door number was in public domain, he did not disclose the nature of their business operations. The TPCC working president also denied that he had accounts in Hong Kong and Malaysia banks.

The Kodangal MLA asserted that these raids would not deter him and that the IT raids were part of a scheme to weaken the party. Analysts say that Revanth Reddy is also trying very hard to distance himself from Chandrababu Naidu, especially in relation to the Notes for Votes case.

Interestingly, Chandrababu Naidu also echoed Revanth Reddy's statements saying that the TPCC working president was targetted by the BJP regime and the TRS government.
