Hyderabad: Former MP from Karimnagar and senior Congress leader Ponnam Prabhakar today alleged that large-scale irregularities were happening in the electoral roll registrations across the State. He said that the issue had already been taken up with the Election Commission. Speaking to media here today, he said that out of the 15,50,834 voters in 2014, only 13,23,433 voters were left in the latest electoral rolls of Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency. Adding that over 2.20 lakh voters were missing only in Karimnagar constituency, he asked as to who would take the responsibility for the irregularities.

Ponnam said that the names of over 90,000 voters went missing from the electoral rolls of Karimnagar Assembly constituency. The EC should take the issue seriously and resolve such discrepancies across various constituencies in the State, he added.

"The situation is the same across the State. Thousands of VRO aspirants were troubled due to the shortage of RTC buses before the recently concluded exam, while lakhs of buses were used for mobilizing TRS workers for the Pragati Nivedana Sabha in Kongara Kalan. Women aspirants who attended the VRO exam were humiliated by the organizers who asked them to remove the mangalsutra and toe rings. The government should take action against the officers involved. The Governor should respond to the issue," he demanded.
