Nallala Odelu of Chennur who was denied the TRS assembly ticket which went instead to Peddapalli MP Balka Suman, may not be the only unhappy aspirant in the ruling party. Political observers say that there are several such candidates who had been jostling for a seat and have been denied the party ticket. Unlikely headache for the party could be some of these candidates turning into independent rebel candidates, in which case they would cut into the TRS vote share.

The Congress heavyweight, Jana Reddy may face stiff opposition from the TRS candidate, Nomula Narsimhaiah. However, the TRS candidate may face an internal contest from a rebel candidate, Koti Reddy which could then split his party’s votes in the prestigious Nagarjunasagar constituency. For the Congress, it is a matter of honour to try and retain the seat. It is no cakewalk for the TRS here, especially in view of the resentment which is brewing in party ranks.

It is a Reddy vs Reddy fight in Nalgonda between Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, another Congress strong man and K. Bhoopal Reddy fielded by the TRS. As it turns out, in the 2014 elections, the TRS had given the ticket to another Reddy candidate, D. Narsimha Reddy, who might have to be persuaded by the party to to support the TRS candidate, should he opt to contest on his own.

There are other constituencies where the TRS aspirants will have to throw their weight behind the party choice, regardless of their personal preference. Goshamahal and Khairatabad in the city and constituencies like Madhira in rural Telangana, are among several such.
