Telangana Election 2018 Exit Poll Survey: TRS Leading

7 Dec, 2018 19:24 IST|Sakshi
Exit polls: Telangana Assembly elections

Telangana elections exit poll results: The Times Now-CNX exit poll predicts a clear Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) victory. The poll has given 66 seats to TRS, while it predicts a tally of 37 to the Congress, 7 to the BJP, 7 to AIMIM and 2 to independent candidates in the 119 seat assembly.

On the other side, the channel CNN News 18 in its exit poll, gave TRS somewhere between 50-65 seats, while it suggested that the Mahakutami would bag 38-52 seats, 4-7 to BJP and 8-14 to others. There is heightened interest in exit polls now in view of the fact that the Mahakutami cobbled together by Chandrababu Naidu and Congress leaders did hectic electioneering. Speculation was rife, because of media hype that the Mahakutami would dislodge the TRS government.

Former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal announced his exit poll results. He predicted anywhere between 55 to 65 seats to the Congress-led Praja Kutami while the TRS is said to be securing around 35 seats in the 119 seat legislative assembly.

With the announcement of the 105 contestants of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections by caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), arose discussions on the political equations among the Opposition parties. As the Congress party inches closer to forming an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the fight for power in the newly formed State intensifies.

Speculation is already rife on political equations among the Opposition parties. Online surveys have sprouted predicting varying numbers. While some tend to foresee a clean sweep by the TRS, others see a swing at the other way while yet others predict a close call. Meanwhile the the Congress party has all but stitched up an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the fight for power in the newly formed State.

Several leaders in the TRS party, who were left high and dry after denial of party tickets, are making a beeline towards the Congress. Earlier today, TRS leader from Warangal, Konda Surekha said she would take a decision on her future, after failing to get a party ticket to fight in the Telangana Assembly elections. Yesterday, former Speaker Suresh Reddy announced that he would join the TRS, after being invited to the party by caretaker IT minister K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR).

Meanwhile, a constituency-wise list of winning parties in the Assembly elections is doing the rounds in social media. While it is purely speculative in nature like many such surveys, this survey report suggests the Congress would emerge as the single largest party in the State, with 45 Assembly seats, while the incumbent TRS would fall two short of the Congress' tally.

In a major surprise, as per this survey the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win in as many as 18 Assembly constituencies in Telangana. This figure by all accounts appears to be a bit far fetched and off the mark. Candidates from Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) would lose out on three Assembly constituencies from their current tally of 7 Assembly seats, while the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) would win in Yakatpura and Bahadurpura constituencies, as per the survey report. This also appears to be highly speculative because on the ground level there are no indications that the MBT has gained any strength. As regards the MIM it has only gathered steam and has not lost its voter base in any way. It is unlikely therefore that its strength in the next Assembly would go down. In fact, with KCR's hint of a friendly fight with the MIM, the party's tally may go up.

Lagadapati Rajagopal Survey Predicts Congress Mahakutami Victory

Former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, in his press conference on Monday, a day before the official poll campaign ends, predicted a hung assembly in Telangana, as things stand. However, he stated that the Congress-led Mahakutami would go on to win in majority seats if the overall voter turnout increases this time around, from its 2014 tally of 72.2%.

Meanwhile, Lagadapati predicted Congress-backed BSP candidate Malreddy Ranga Reddy’s win in Ibrahimpatnam constituency. He also said BSP candidate G. Vinod (Bellampally) would also win.
