Hyderabad: Former MLA and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader Konda Surekha today lashed out at caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) for not offering her the party ticket to contest in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. Speaking at the Somajiguda press club here along with her husband and TRS leader Konda Murali, she said that the State was not owned by the family of TRS Chief KCR. Expressing disappointment over the party's denial of ticket to her, she said that the couple were forced to join the party in 2014, but, originally, she wanted to contest from Parakala constituency as an independent candidate. "KCR convinced me to contest against Baswaraj Sarayya, by promising ministerial berth to me and an MLC post to Konda Murali," she revealed.

Konda Surekha said that she was blessed with a majority of 55,000 votes in Warangal East constituency, although she was relatively a new face to the locals. She added that the couple did not receive a penny towards party fund and that they had financially supported candidates in Corporation and MLC elections.

The dejected leader recalled that as a four-time MLA from the BC community, she was not offered a ministerial berth. "Not a single woman minister featured in KCR's cabinet. By not offering party ticket to a BC woman, KCR has insulted crores of people from the community. What was the reason behind not offering tickets to sitting MLAs from the SC community Bodige Shobha, Babu Mohan and Nallala Odelu?" she questioned the TRS leadership.

Phone Tapping Underway

The TRS leader said that caretaker minister K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) was the reason behind her not getting the party ticket. "Our phone calls are getting tapped. KTR created various issues in my constituency," she added.

The couple will take a call on their future in two days, based on the party's reply. If need be, I will contest as an independent from Parakala, Bhupalapalli and Warangal East constituencies, Konda Surekha Said.
