Siddipet: Telangana Irrigation Minister Harish Rao demanded that the Centre give special incentives to industries in the state, if it were to accord Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. "If Special Category Status (SCS) is granted to Andhra Pradesh, the same should also be extended to our state as well," he asserted.

The Senior TRS leader, was addressing a gathering in Sangareddy here. He asked the Telangana Congress leaders' stand, after the Congress Working Committee passed a resolution to grant SCS to AP.

Although the Telangana government has been seeking national status to one of its projects, the Centre, which had given the status to Andhra Pradesh's Polavaram project, did not consider it, Harish Rao said.

"Do the Congress leaders intend to support SCS to AP at the cost of interests of Telangana?" he questioned. All industries will move to Andhra Pradesh, if it is given the SCS, the TRS leader added.

The Congress leaders, especially Jana Reddy and Uttamkumar Reddy, who have caused injustice to Nalgonda district, have a history of supporting interests of Andhra Pradesh, he said. Congress President Rahul Gandhi does not possess the stature of a national leader, he remarked.

In addition to the fight for SCS by the YSR Congress Party and the Telugu Desam Party, the Congress joined the demand by announcing its stand.
