Komatireddi Arrested, Tension Near Gandhi Bhavan

Hyderabad: The Youth Congress had organised Bharath Bachao at Gandhi Bhavan here today. After the programme, former minister Komatireddi Venkat Reddy ,along with a few party workers started marching towards Pragathi Bhavan in protest against IT and Panchayat Raj minister KT Rama Rao's remarks against Sonia Gandhi. As they entered the road, police arrested Komatireddi and others and shifted them to Goshamahal police station.

Earlier speaking in the Bharath Bachao programme, Komatireddi questioned Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao about his promise to give job to every household in the state. He expressed anger over the comments of KTR against Sonia Gandhi and said that the minister was speaking out of arrogance. He called upon the youth to work towards bringing Congress to power in next elections and said that young Congress leaders should be given tickets to contest in next elections.

The Congress leader asked his party cadre to note down the names of all the officials who have framed illegal cases against party leaders and said that they would be put in place after Congress comes to power.

Speaking on the occasion, Legislative Council opposition leader Shabbir Ali said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not fulfilled the promises. GST and demonetisation were programmes intended to create problems for the public. He demanded to know how the country benefitted from foreign trips made by the PM. Sonia Gandhi granted separate statehood to Telangana based fulfill the aspirations of people and not for KCR's family. He challenged KCR to step into the Osmania University campus.

He further said only with the help of Youth Congress, the party would form government in the state. He asked the Youth Congress leaders not merely be content with the party leaders but to establish themselves at constituency level. Only then would they have future in politics, he added.
