Telangana New Secretariat Construction To Begin In November; Departments Told To Vacate In 10 Days

Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Monday directed all the officials to relocated their respective departments to Burgula Ramakrishna Rao (BRK) bhavan and other available buildings in the city.

Hyderabad: The stage is being set for new Secretariat for Telangana State as the ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for November and all the departments have been given 10 days time to vacate the existing Secretariat. Barely within 24 hours after the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhara Rao met Governor ESL Narasimhan seeking returning of blocks allotted to AP Secretariat by Telangana Government, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Monday directed all the officials to relocated their respective departments to Burgula Ramakrishna Rao (BRK) bhavan and other available buildings in the city. Mumbai-based architect Hafeez Contractor will submit the new designs as suggested by KCR on new Secretariat buildings by the first week of November.

Sharma has already set up a committee with eight senior IAS officers to monitor and carry on the relocating the existing Secretariat. The new committee comprises IAS officers Salini Misra, Adar Sinha, BR Meena, MG Gopal, Vikas Raj, Ashok Kumar, R Sunil Sharma and Rajeswar Tiwari.

Departments like general administration and finance don't have HoDs in the city. These departments will be shifted to Burgula Ramakrishna Rao Bhavan.Senior officials said that the irrigation department will move into the office of the Engineer in Chief of Irrigation at Errumanzil, agriculture department will move in with the Commissioner of Agriculture and energy department will move into Vidyut Soudha.

The Telangana government is taking all possible measures to vacate the Secretariat departments quickly facilitating the ground-breaking ceremony and construction works. As part of this, KCR has asked the Governor to see that all the blocks allotted to AP government should be returned as early as possible. AP government is also likely to take a positive decision on handing over of Secretariat buildings to Telangana government as Chandrababu Naidu said that he would favor the adjustment in giving and receiving with Telangana government.

Rajiv Sharma is also planning to locate the ministers’ chambers at Greenlands Guesthouse or at Manjeera Guesthouse. It also plans to lay the foundation stone for the construction of new Secretariat buildings next month. After vacating the Secretariat departments, the state government will take up demolition of Secretariat buildings.
