Telangana Mulls Farmer-Friendly Budget For 2018-19

The Telangana government, much like the Union government, has lined up an array of sops and specific welfare projects clearly keeping the 2019 elections in mind, sources say.

It is credibly learnt that the KCR-led government is planning to bring in a budget proposal of over Rs 1.50 lakh crore budget for 2018-19. The Chief Minister is keen to ensure that all segments of society are covered through welfare schemes.

High on his list are farmers who will get a subsidy credited directly to their accounts. This falls under the category of capital subsidy for which the Revenue department, it is learnt has already submitted a report on eligibility.

Things are moving at a fast clip to ensure that there is proper coordination between various departments concerned at all levels. All the departments are getting ready with their proposals, sources say. The budget outlay is likely to cross Rs 1.50 lakh crore for 2018-19, it is reliably learnt.
