In a sensational development, taking a tough view of the unscientific and unethical medical practices, the Telangana Medical Council axed Dr Chandrabhushan of the Global Hospital, who performed the height-increasing surgery on Nikhil Reddy.

Dr Chandrabhushan's licence to practice has been cancelled for two years. Some six months ago, Nikhil Reddy approached Global Hospital to undergo a surgery to increase his height. After the procedure, Nikhil was confined to bed and is unable to walk. Nikhil's parents lodged complaints with the Human Rights Commission and the Indian Medical Council.

Similarly, the licence of Dr Namratha of Kukatpalli-based Srushti Test Tube Baby Centre has been cancelled for five years. Dr Rahul, Dr Minhaz Zafar, Dr Harikumar have been punished by cancelling their licences for six months each. Dr Manoj Kumar of Kathlapur in Jagityal too faced similar punishment.
