Telangana Doctors Threaten To Intensify Strike Over Salaries

Hyderabad: After sanitation workers of Gandhi Hospital went on strike on April 6 over payment of salaries, Telangana government doctors launched a stir on Monday demanding an increase in their salaries and allowances.

The Telangana Government Doctors' Association (TGDA) also threatened to intensify strike from May 1 with boycotting duties for an hour, then further boycotting duties from May 16 and then to completely stay away from all duties from June 2 onwards.

On Monday the doctors wore a black badge and staged protested outside the Gandhi Hospital administrative building. The protest took place before the office hours so that out patients facilities doesn’t face disruption.

"We have represented our demands number of times but not a single demand has been met so far. This is creating insecurity and apprehension in the minds of the doctors,“ said TGDA president Dr S. Ramesh.

Apart from implementation pay grades as per GO 14 other major demand of them is the proper distribution of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh doctors, as 171 AP doctors are serving in medical colleges and government hospitals in Telangana.

TGDA president also said that they also want the government to abolish procurement of drugs and disposables by the Telangana State Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMIDC) as they purchase poor quality drugs.
