Telangana Cop Lies Bleeding On Road As Onlookers Make Videos, Take pics

Khammam: In a shocking incident highlighting public indifference to accident victims once again, a Telangana policeman lost his life as the on-lookers were taking pictures and making videos using their phones. The victim identified as assistant sub-inspector Bhukya Bhaskar was mowed down by a speeding truck as he tried to cross the road. The incident happened on Friday noon in Khammam district but the news has gone viral now.

An official said that Bhukya was conscious for nearly 10 minutes after mowed down by a vehicle, but the pedestrians and other passers-by, were pre-occupied with clicking images to get likes on a social media platfom. "As we cleared the mob and rushed him to the hospital he succumbed to the injuries. He could have survived had he been taken to hospital immediately, " the official added.

ACP Naresh said, “He was due to retire in April. This morning, he had gone on bandobast duty to a nearby village where a lucky draw was held for beneficiaries of 2 BHK housing by government. Bhaskar and the SI returned to the police station in a jeep and he got down near the police station. He then attempted to cross the road to collect his motorcycle when the truck hit him.”

The official further added that they are yet to identify the persons who clicked the images. Bhukya is survived by his wife, son and four daughters. The last rites of the ASI will take place today.
