Techie Commits Suicide Due To Police Harassment
Jagtial: A software techie committed suicide here on Sunday owing to constant harassment of his father by a local police official.
The deceased, Dashrath Reddy (24), was employed in a software firm in Bengaluru. He returned to his home in Arapeta of Metpalli mandal to find that the local sub inspector of police Ashok was harassing his father Raja Reddy in a land dispute. The harassment unsettled the family and according to neighbours they lived in constant fear of the police. The atmosphere at home drove the youngster to suicide on Saturday night when the rest of the family members were fast asleep.
Angered over the suicide due to police harassment, relatives and neighbours of Dashrath stage a rasta-roko on National Highway 63. They demanded the immediate suspension of the sub inspector. The protest led to traffic snarls on the highway extending to several kilometers. Senior police officials rushed to protest site and assured them of investigation into the issue.
